The Turning Point in My Journey Toward Marriage

Five Years After My Last Post: I Got Married

On Oct 26, 2024, I got married.

For someone who has waited and experienced heartbreak time and again—heartbreaks that encompass not just romance but also career and community service—the biggest challenge to overcome is the notion that it is still worth the search and being searched for. This eventually led to losing the courage to believe someone shares your heart’s desire and is suited to fulfill it.

The courage to overcome that challenge and enter the dating arena came during the pandemic. I saw my aging parents getting sleepy together over a video call and not wanting to talk to me for a few more minutes. It brought me to a place where I truly wanted to be married to someone good and nice until I was gray and blurry.

I believe that was the first step toward getting married — seeing the ideal marriage I aspire to. I was struck by how my parents behaved, who had been married for 50 years at that time.

If you’re losing the courage to pursue a lifelong dream, perhaps it’s time to take the first step. The first step is to find the place where you can once again see where your dream first began.

Love,

Mrs Benia (Ayeeeee) *Kilig* (Butterflies in your stomach)
