Things that I Didn’t See Coming When I Prayed for a Husband ( Things I Encourage Single Searching Ladies to Know)

For a year and a quarter, I have gained the title by the virtue of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony, WIFE.

For that same amount of time, my life as a Single Woman, especially on Saturdays, flipped. Am I prepared for this? I prayed for years for a husband, yes! But about other things? Hmmm, maybe no one dared to tell me, thinking I could figure that out when the need arises. 👍🏻

Here are the things I want to share with my strong, independent, single searching ladies friends that they would thank me later for:

  1. Wake up earlier than your husband and do the things that you’d like to do — brisk walking, journaling, online classes for new skills. (I’m continuing my online class on SQL. To get refreshed on the prompt after two years of no use.) Start waking up early now.
  2. Learn tenderness. Just learn and practice. Practice with your most annoying relative, colleague, etc.
  3. Do and complete all your personal projects now while you’re still single. Examples include sending your younger sibling to university and solo travel (duh?). If siblings are still young and you’re seeing yourself getting married before they reach college years, then save up for them or for your parents.
  4. Experiencing lonely alone times is a reminder to build quality friendships. Experiencing heartbreak is a moment to let go and sincerely reflect on what you’re looking for in a relationship, which can lead to marriage.
  5. Be grateful for your single freedom, but do not worship it. Just be thankful enough to let it go and accept changes when the right person for your search comes along.
